Anyone tried bypass oil filter system?

Good evening cruiserheads,
I've been reading on the internet and asking questions by email etc about
bypass oil filters capable of removing particles down to 1 micron in size!
The advantage claimed for this type of filtering is that virtually all
contaminants are removed from the oil which can then be used for extremely
long periods. Apparently oil does not deteriorate but it's additives can and
do. The removal of all these extra contaminants means the additives aren't
having to neutralise them and hence last much longer. This also applies to
water which is removed by the filter. The original filter remains in place
removing the large particles but it seems, like the oil, it can now be used
for a lot longer.
So to question time;
Has anyone used this system either on a Landcruiser (ideal) or any other
vehicle over an extended period?
The filter is fed from an adaptor under the oil pressure switch but needs a
free flowing drain back to the sump. It occurred to me that the turbo oil
drain might be ideal but are there any other options that any of you know
about?
If anyone has any knowledge of this please share it - before my letter goes
off to Santa...haha.
Thanks,
John

Hi John
What cruiser are you driving.
Where have you enquired about the by pass filtration.
Are you thinking of using Dino or Synth oil.
Have you looked into better air filtration which is where most of the
particles come from in the first place.
cheers

Good Morning John,
As usual - an important piece of the story totally overlooked... its an
HDJ81 with the 1HD-T engine and autobox.
I have looked at stacks of web info eventually concentrating on Amsoil and
Kleenoil plus a subsequent email dialogue with Kleenoil.
I currently use a dino oil with a Japanese based additive mix. I don't think
I have seen any information suggesting an advantage of one particular type
of oil in this situation other than the usual dino v synth discussions of
course. So no decision has been made for future use.
I understand that for normal use it is difficult to beat the manufacturer's
air filter without invoking the penalties of either an excessively large air
cleaner or a greater pressure loss. If the vehicle were to be used under
extreme conditions I would agree that improving air filtration would be
worthwhile but present use is almost 100% UK on-road. Even with improved air
filtering there would still be additive deterioration to contend with if the
normal oil filter was relied on. These bypass systems claim to solve all
that!
Thanks for your interest - now what do you know about it...? ;-)
Cheers,
John
