Had this thing for some while now, never used it. Fella came along with a tyre this weekend with a huge nail in it. Thought I'd give it a try. Damn, it worked well. Pull out nail, ream hole a bit to clean it and rough the edges, shove needle tool in with length of sticky black string through it. Pull out, trim ends. Absolutely brilliant. Reckon you could do it in 30 secs or less if you got the tools out ready. Wouldn't do it on a Ferrari tyre sure, but off road with something like a nail, ridiculously good. Didn't even lose much air.

Where was it from mate as a friend of mine brought one off ebay for around a fiver. He said there a very good bit of kit to carry around.

ARB. Dunno where I got it. Doesn't matter really, it says ARB on the box. There are other versions I know and they all work the same. Thing is - they work!

Chris

Yes they are an excellent bit of kit, I have used them in south Africa and Botswana, I think they should be an essential part of any over land or off road kit, I don't consider it to be a get you home device but rather a keep you going solution.

Just rather hard to locate in England.

:p

Well worth having

That and the liquid stuff you put in your tyres to prevent punctures.

Have used my ARB kit once on my truck,
and on two vans owned by friends.
as Chris said quick and very effective.

They are good, I always carry a kit in the back of my truck.

I have OKO in all my tyres. But figured I'd have a kit for those less fortunate than myself :icon-biggrin:

Never used it but I also carry an ARB repair kit, nice to know it's as simple as it looks.

If you going to get the ARB one then see if you can get it from the USA as they are $33 opposed to £55/60 here in the UK.

I just have a generic no name brand, works well.
IMHO no need to pay over the top for the ARB kit.

Reading this thread, I'm not sure that ARB have a special manufacturer who makes special sticky plugs for them that are of superior quality. They may supply a better quality reamer and plug tool, but I'd be surprised if they do that either.

I think its call "Marketing Bollix", unless someone knows different.

Following getting three punctures all at the same time in the past!!! I looked into getting one of these tyre repair kits, but found after some extensive research that they are illegal to use in this country! OK I guess if your Over Landing in Moroco or you've trailered your off-roader to a Pay & Play site for the day, but if you were to use it on the road following repairing a puncture with one of these kits then have an accident and it was noted or found even to be the cause of the accident who knows what may happen!!! Where as the tyre foam puncture repair cans are now widely accepted as an effective and recognized temporary repair for a puncture all over the world. This is what I used to fix two out of the three punctures that I got and the spare for the third. I continued to off-road for the rest of the day and then drove 200+ miles home. The following day I took my punctures to my local Tyre specialist who then legally repaired them.

Just a thought :icon-smile:

Or if you are any where near india they are about £2 and comes with the tool kit on most cars.

Ive noticed a lot of the big 4x4 companies badge up other peoples products and sell them on at hugely inflated prices. :icon-rolleyes:

My compressor for example, is re-badged and sold by a few different companies for 2 or 3 times more than the unbranded version.

This is mine:-

And one with an Ironman sticker:-

And one with a Britpart sticker:-

I guess if your happy paying extra money for a fancy sticker, then go for it! :icon-wink:

Im sure as hell not though! :eusa-naughty:

Fancy stickers! the Landy boys love them - I have thought about getting a little sticker to go under the land cruiser badge "does what it says on the tin"

Back to puncture repair kits, I have a few of the cheapo type as Ben listed- they work fine as does super glue on sidewall cuts (I'm not joking) again not for fast road but fine off the beaten track
