I am going to change the ATF in my 80 import as I have decided to service it.
When ordering 25L was asked the question "Dextron 2 or 3" ? I didn't know

Anyone know?

Gerrit on the South African LC forum told me Dexron II is a superceded grade. The last licensed grade was Dexron III, which should be perfect as a fluid in older transmissions where the manufacturer originally stated that Dexron II fluid should be used. Dexron is a registered trademark of General Motors that used to be licensed, but no longer is.

Pull the dipstick out, it will tell you on there.

Both II or III will work fine. When using auto boxes in drag racing we used to swap one type out and put the other in as it was less 'slippery' and gave harder shifts, cannot remember which way around it was though.
