Bash plate and dog, cargo guard
Hi there Jeremy
You have a good memory, what I did was take the third row of seats out and
then used the ancher point for the seats which are two treaded holes on the
wheel arch. I got a guy to make a plate 3 or 4 inches long by 1 inch wide
and then weld a 1 inch by 1 inch steel tube to the plate in the direction
of the back seat. The same the other side and then weld a 1 x 1inch bar to
these, so you end up with your base bar. I then got him to do the same at
the top, using the threaded holes for the two handles now removed. You now
have top and bottom bars screwed into the bottom and the top. Then he made
two bars to join these other bars at the top and the bottom , to fit in the
space. These bars were secured to the top and bottom with bolts and fly nuts
I think there calles that, the ones that you can turn with you hands very
easly. So these two bars can be removed by hand from either the rear or from
the the front. The two bars that are mounted to the frame of the cruiser
have to be set back from the rear seat about 1 inch or so to allow movement
when someone sits down on this seat. The reason I got him to make the two
center bars easly removable is because if the boot door gets stuck you can
still have access from the front, and believe me the door will stick when
you have no access, it has happened me before. I then attached an ordinary
cheap dog guard to this frame with lockable straps very tightly, you know
the one with the sides that can adjust in and out. Its important that its
all very tight because I think we all hate rattles. If your unclear I could
try and draw an out line with the measurements, I know a photo would be good
buy I only have an ordinary camera which would take time. But if you want a
photo a photo you shall have. It works very well. I have designed a piece
for the front of the cruiser and made an accurate model out of cardboard for
the metal guy, some thing like an A bar but they are too common and this is
moulded to the shape of the front of the cruiser. So its all down to price
for him to make it, too expensive then ill think up something new, my funds
are scarce and the kids still need to be fed, and I wouldn't mind but they
want food every day.
