We picked up our Land Cruiser on Saturday and drove it back home after filling the tank from empty. It came with a Brink towbar so we didn't have to add that. Yesterday we towed our 2 tonne caravan for the first time. Needless to say it was effortless and made an easier job compared to the Hyundai. There was less sway at normal driving, much easier to hitch, easier to add the towing mirrors. We are getting our normal sway however when going over 60 mph and being passed by vans. Being that the towbar can take 140kg downward force we can play around with the 75-80kg a little that we have at the moment. We have a local weighbridge that we use so the weights can be accurate. Train weight is 5.1 tonne. We have noticed that the lockup converter maybe be standard. Has anyone added a programmer to improve the transmission? If so which one is recommended? We are looking at the ECON LOCK that is plugged into the OBD at the moment that is an Austrian company. Also after reading the manual there is a procedure, when attaching a trailer, to adjust the AHC. The manual has no reason for this. Does anyone have any idea what this is for? After towing the caravan for 5 miles the whole outfit appeared and remained level at the weighbridge so I was thinking the AHC procedure was to keep the 200 level. After a good look under the car, there is a lot of underseal flaking off with surface rust especially to the rear. So we are considering jet washing underneath, treating the rust and applying a protective layer. Does anyone have any ideas about the best way to do this? Obviously our Land Cruiser has not seen a lot of off road action because there are no large amounts of dried mud stuck up in the chassis. Under the steering column below the knee air bag there is a removable plastic panel with a MAP plug wired to it. Does anyone know what this is for? After searching the web and manuals, we have no answer. Extra cables had been added to the driver's side battery. We were thinking electrical modifications had been made but tracing them through revealed it is a direct feed to the trailer wiring relay. Is it always the case that British sold 2oo have 24v starting? After reading a bit, Toyota appeared to provide 24v starting to those colder countries of the world. Is it easy to add the coolbox to the centre console if the vehicle wasn't fitted with it?
