Hi
I am planning to do a restoration on my lj78 at the end of the year.
Does anyone know what is involved in removing the body from the chassis?
I am rather hoping it will lift off in one piece.
Any pointers would be welcome

It will come off in one piece but its a pretty big job!

You will have to remove all the bolts that bolt the body to the chassis. Disconnect the clutch, speedo, accelerator, and handbrake cables.

Disconnect the brake hoses that go from the master cylinder to the chassis.

Coolant hoses going from engine through the bulkhead to the heater matrix.

Fuel hoses at the tank as the tank is bolted to the body and not the chassis.

Wiring loom coming through the bulkhead into the engine bay.

Remove the gear stick surrounds and sticks.

Disconnect the steering column from the steering box.

I think the rad bolts to the body, so that too will need removing.

Thanks for the reply. It is a project I am going to undertake later in the year, so just getting my head around what is involved.
I am in no rush so that seems do able.
I am hoping to change the engine to a Nissan 3.2 TD if it will fit ( which I am sure it will ) with a manual box.
I have one of these engines in my other car ( Nissan Elgrand ) and it is fabulous.
Once I get started I will start a thread on here

Sounds good, I will look forward to the thread.
