Bonnet latch

Help please! My bonnet latch has died. It's a 100 series 4.2 diesel. I tried to take it off, but for love nor money I can't wiggle it out of its space to even see if it's a quick fix or terminal. Can't see anyone selling spares either, even if I could get it out. Has anyone got a source of the parts or further advice , before I drill a couple of holes in the bonnet and bolt it down. Thanks in advance.

Update for anyone searching the forums: having removed the cable at the flap end I was then able to push it back in and re-engage the lock. All’s good for now and no drilling was required!
