Can anyone find me a searchlight like this -

I want a searchlight permanently mounted on a roof . But i also want it without motors or remote control etc , i'd much prefer just a handle inside so i can turn the light up , down , left or right by hand , a bit like a periscope . P.S. this is for my boat a 10m diesel catamaran so size is not really an issue .

You got the idea right Grant but i want a purpose built light and it needs to be water tight because the electronics underneath are worth a lot more than a brand new cruiser !

The water tightness on the above i'm sure is down to the installer. But that is one hell of a gamble considering all those electronics underneath.

Cheers Chris thats what i'm looking for (couldn't you have found a more expensive one !) . All commercial fishing boats have searchlights but nowadays you just get a electric control knob so your bobbing about in a gale of wind struggling to stay on your feet looking for a football lost at sea and the makers think you've got time and patience to fiddle about with gadgets that inevitably only direct the light where you wanted it to be 3 seconds earlier . It's a very expensive toy when a £5 torch works better !

Have a look for shooting lights. We use them to go lamping foxes. They are water tight so that you can put them through the roof of your Hilux. I don't have a linky, but I am sure with your skills you can track one down.

If so they do have a marine spec light which may be a budget option? But not sure the rest of the components would withstand the marine environment?

I'm all for helping my fellow man on here, but geeze Shayne... a simple Google search throws up hundreds of hits on this.

Believe it or not i spent 2 hours searching last night and everything i found was more suited to a royal navy frigate I just figured someone may have fitted a very straight forward searchlight to thier roof for off roading .
