Compass meter not functioning

I have just replace my Multi Functional meter on my 96 Prado, as the old.s LCD was broken. Now the compass meter is not moving as we turn or relocate the Vehicle. i have tried to reset by pressing both up/down arrow button and drive the jeep in circle, but in vain.

please advise

Are you sure you're using the right procedure?

The book says:
1. Push the up and down buttons simulaneously
2. Push the up button and the compass display will blink
3. Circle slowly (within one minute) after pushing the up button

Sounds like you may have missed step 2.

Dear i have done that several time both the step, still it doesn't move.
