I guess thats £270.00 local, rather than £270.00 in the UK.
The equivalent here would be about £1000.00 (probably for exactly the same thing!)
Whats the quality like (I ask as I have some chinese nuts and bolts stamped '8.8' which are definitely not!

Well I guess in some respects you get what you pay for.
However for around town here, they are more than adequate.
However, their quality is coming on leaps and bounds.
The styling is also, as mentioned getting the European and Western feel.
What is taking off very well here are hybrid bikes.
These are essentially eBikes with a 35cc petrol engine.
Being less than 49cc, does not require licence or registration.
The bike is normally driven by the battery, and when when the battery is flat, they use the petrol engine.
The petrol engine can not recharge the battery.
There are lots of "roadside" charging points for eBikes, mostly privately owned and run, outside shops, and in bike parks.
Benelli was recently bought by the Chinese, just like Volvo.
