Few more pics.
Catch can made by cross country with drain off hose.

The kits normally come in bare aluminium. I asked for the lot to be powder coated. Which they very kindly did at no extra charge.

Still got a bit of tidying up to do and the fan to wire up.

Oh, not forgetting the controversial scoop..

That’s looking pretty tidy there Mike, I have to say!

Isuzu Trooper scoop is smaller but probably big enough - that one looks awful so sell it to me :shifty:

scoop looks fine. Does it have a mesh to keep out leaves/debris?

Thanks beau.
No it doesn't, something I can keep an eye on though. If there's a problem with debris I could fit something.

Just incase anyone's in any doubt what the egr does to the intake side of things;

wired up the fan today. jaysus this thing pulls some air! it can be heard if you stand at the front of the vehicle.

im happy with the results of fitting this. first drive out the power increase at higher revs was noticeable, foot planted to the floor in all scenarios other than towing i couldnt get above 1200 f. i could surpass this before without thinking about it.
ive now turned up the main fuel screw and put a grind on the fuel pin as the 80 felt a bit flat low down in the rev range.
runs great and still plenty of tinkering to do.
have to say the lads at cross country were great to deal with, plenty of e mails and a couple of phone calls which after my "mornin" was normally greated with "what you talking about? its beer o clock here!"
everything is very well made, welding is great, hoses are gates and the jubilee clips are made in oz. no scrimping anywhere.

if your after putting your foot on the first rung of the power increase ladder, or if your 80 series life needs spicing up a little i would certainly recommend a good, well matched intercooler.

Dremmel came out again...

Plenty of fueling now.

Thinking of fitting a thermo switch to turn the fan on at 50c. At the moment the fan comes on with the ignition, as we know these engines take a bit of warming up at idle. It may or may not be making a difference, not sure.

The fan combats the heat of the engine more than anything so nothing to be gained from adding a thermo switch surely .

Your likely right Shayne.
Probably just psychological..

Just been looking at pdi front mounted coolers and reason not to front mount las ? as I’m not sure about the bonnet butchery.
