Hi all have a discussion about my 80 series.
This being "Does the 80 series have an non interference engine"

ie if the cam belt lets go does the piston hit the valves ?

My engine is 4.2 td 12v

Also most pre 2002 Subaru engines were non interference, Mazda Xedos V6 2.0 engine, etc.
But the non interference engines are becoming rare as higher compression rates are desirable for better mpg.

I don't know of any diesel non interference engine, does they exist?

OK, it's a petrol but the 3.4V6 in the 90 series Colorado/Prado is a non-interference engine. :)
