Hi everyone
I'm here as I am looking to buy my very first Landcruiser and I am hoping to get myself an education before I commit :-)
I've been sent here by an existing member and I am grateful for any help and advice that comes my way.
I think I've done enough homework to know this is the right vehicle for us but I reserve my right as a woman to change my mind :icon-biggrin:
I'm going to start with the "stickies" and I look forward to "reading" you all in due course :-)
I'm based in Hampshire.

Hi Debbie & Ian!
You will get lots of help here. Start off by telling everyone what you are looking for and what sort of budget you have - bound to start a fight!

and also which model turns your fancy...?

Thanks :-)
So this is what I am thinking so far.........
LC 4 2001 onwards? Budget of up to 8.000 I found one on auto trader from a private seller that I keep looking at but it is a two hour drive and I am reluctant to go looking at anything before I know what to look for!
We need automatic and diesel as I have an allergy to petrol BUT one of the most important things is reliability. So if auto petrol would have better long term reliability. then I would try and work round my allergy. I need something that will start every morning, comfortable to ride in, big enough to take three/four small people plus the big ones up front, dogs and wheelchair/mobility scooter/pushchairs/bikes/prams. I'm angling to get a caravan at some point but towing at this moment in time is not high on the priority list.
I am in two camps at the moment
Camp one buy the newest best car I can for the whole budget and
Camp two by an older one and put the balance aside for potential repairs.
We have a tendency to keep our cars for five years plus and it is our intention to keep this one for as long as possible, my research to date indicates we could do this. Our annual mileage is around 10.000 miles.
Have I forgot anything that I should consider?

Just buy an 80 enverybody ends up with one anyway.
Ps welcome
Where is the one you like located ? The club is great for networking and finding out if worth taking te trip to look at.
Good luck stut

 Nice one Stu, can't argue with that, and welcome to the forum Debbie & Ian!

By the the sound of it, and all the stuff you want to carry, an 80 won't be big enough, better get one of these ...

IMO, a deisel is more reliable than a petrol, especially in the cold and wet, even in Hampshire! Diesels normally run to a higher mileage, so you'd be able to pick up a relatively hi-miler without having to worry that it's on its last legs. They normally come at a premium price though, so it's a bit of a balancing act.

There's plenty of diesel autos about, if auto is a must.

As for the model, I don't have a clue, unless you do decide to get an 80:lol: (they're a wonderful machine!)

Happy hunting!

Thx guys, from looking through threads I think if I was to go the 80 route then I would have to enrol on a mechanics course :-D and that is not in my five year plan ;-)
The photo looks a great solution and if I end up having to ship everything at the same time I will seriously consider an upgrade to the nice green lorry :-)
In the meanwhile I will continue my search for something which only needs washing hovering and driving to the nice mechanic for a service ;-)
I can't post the link as I haven't posted 15 times.... yet! But it is on auto trader, private seller, LC4 2003 137.000 fsh. 5869£

This one is it perhaps?

Personally I tend to regard vehicles advertised on auto trader as overpriced.

Sounds like you need a 100 series with a bench type front seat, to fit 6 plus all that stuff.
