EGR valves - yuk

Andy, petrol or diesel powered ?
I have done this on the 1-HDFT engine with the full EGR system. Do you have a couple of vac operated valves on the exhaust manifold ? If yes , all I did was removed one of the pipes linking them to a respective vac / electric solenoid. I then linked the valves together, thus isolating them from the rest of the system. The "free" length of rubber hose on the one solenoid was then connected to the other solenoid. Thus no "open" ends of hoses or uncapped valves / solenoids. All in all it took less than a minute !
Thanks for the "remote / plipper" tip. I have printed it and will put it in my handbook.

Andy,
The EGR bit is not required for the MOT test and has to be there only
during the manufacturing process to make the engine type pass the
emission tests.
No-one except yourself will care if it's there or not. And to pre-empt
an argument "I'd be bad for the environment if everybody removed it" -
well, 99% of people have no idea it's there ;-)
MY92 never had it so I'm not sure where it is on the engine but in the
300TDi engine it was enough to put a steel ball in the rubber hose
controlling valve pressure to completely disable it.
