Electric window fuses?

The UK passenger side front and rear power windows have both stopped
working on my 94 HDJ80. Because it's both windows I'm hoping there's a
fuse or relay somewhere that applies to that side. I've not had chance
to look in the manual yet but will be doing so.
Best regards,
Jon.

Jon,
What about the rear D/S window? Has it stopped too?

Roman,
Now that you mention it, I just checked and that doesn't work either. Do
you have an idea what it might be?
Thanks,
Jon.

Jon,
Barring the obvious (the square button on the D/S door console is
depressed), you need to follow the circuit switched by these contacts.
I'd start from taking apart the door console. The switch can be
(carefully) disassembled. It's easy to follow the tracks to find which
wire goes where. One switch terminal should be always +12V (when
ignition is ON). If it isn't, follow the wiring to the fuse box. If
it is, inspect the switch itself and internal tracks on the console.
Sorry I can't help more but I haven't the wiring circuit on hand, so I
am working from memory. A full description how to troubleshoot power
window circuits is in the Repair Manual for Chassis & Body - RM184E

Hi Roman,
That is what I had considered, but was sure that Jon had thought of
that.
I wonder if he would admit to it if he hadn't ;-))

Yes, he would admit to it, and no I hadn't thought of that! I'm
embarrassed it was that simple and pleased at the same time ... I'd
forgotten all about the isolator switch, mind it works completely
differently to the isolator in any other car I've had one in, which only
effect the rear windows and it was the front I noticed as not working
first.
Sorry to have wasted the bandwidth but at least you got to see how
stupid I am for future reference :)
Best regards,
Jon.

Hi Jon,
I find that really irritating when I want to lock the windows to stop the
children playing with them but want to be able to use them in the front -
am tempted to look at the wiring to see if there is a way around it.
Don't worry I am sure we have all been similarly afflicted at some time or
another.

Hi Jon
Once I could'nt start the cruiser and thought I had checked every thing ,
opened the bonnet and checked all the pipes ,leads, batteries, then looked
as I usually do when I know nothing and looked. I decided that with all my
expertise in this field NOT i knew there was nothing wrong with the engine
bay area, even if there was a problem doubt I would know what to do any way.
I know im going on but this is the stupid part and you thought you were bad,
I got into the cruiser and still it would'nt start, checked fuses why dont
know, sat there for a while then looked at the gear stick, it was in R and
so would not start, but in in P and she started no problem. Got out of the
cruiser and just stood there in awe at my lack of even two brain cells that
day.
This has to beat any thing you guys have done on the stupid side, so relax
Jon im way ahead.

Jon,
Just to give you another example of not being the only one, my
neighbour had a problem with his Isuzu Trooper, main beam had gone.
Being a non techie he mentioned something about the switchgear on the
column so I dutifully stripped it all down and checked it over, checked
all the fuses, swapped out relays, traced the wiring to check for loose
connectors, etc.
After and hour and half of checking I thought I would check the
connectors at the back of the bulbs only to find that both high beam
bulbs had gone.
The strange things was that they were bought at exactly the same time
and both went at exactly the same time - talk about built in
obsolescence!

Ah! Did that with a boat. Stalled the engine and it wouldn't start,
slowly floating towards a weir. I was shouting to someone on the bank to
catch a line when he said have you checked it's not in gear.
Oops! {:-O)
Ian.
