End date of the 80 series?

Was the end date some time in latter half of 1998?

Did the petrol version live a little longer in final production days than the diesel version?

Not sure when the last Japanese 80 rolled off the production line, probably in 1997, but new ones were still being registered in the UK early in 1998, up till March when the 100 series started. I think the petrol models had the same production dates as the diesels. They were also produced in Venezuela I think it was after that but I can't remember the years or if any of them were exported elsewhere or were restricted to that country.

Just wanting to know, as I see quite a few 80 series for sale in China, but the latest I see is 1998.
Almost every single one is petrol.
Even though petrol is less than half the UK price, it would still be a thirsty runaround.
