This may be a silly question, i have seen on Ice Road Truckers that they have some kind of an engine brake , could this be done on any engine ?.
Reason being mine is an Auto and i don't have a huge amount of transmission braking.

It's a exhaust brake on trucks, but would think it would be no good on a auto.

As said wouldnt work on an auto but Jake Brakes are so cool! Basically turns the engine into a giant compressor and sounds amazing. :)

If you have an auto you can knock it into a lower gear, or turn the overdrive off depending on how fast you are travelling.

To understand how this sort of brake works on a diesel, drive downhill and turn the engine off. Make certain you do not take the key out of the ignition lock!!!

For obvious reasons, I will not be held responsible for any repercussions.

I cant see an exhaust brake being much of an advantage on a landcruiser unless you were towing max loads all the time.
