Can anyone tell me when 1hd-ft changed to 1hd-fte, or when did the 4.2 loss the manual injector pump. thank you for your time.

1998 100 series 1hdfte had the electric pump.
1997 80 series had the 1hdft mechanical pump

All HDJ100 models had the 1HD-FTE which do not have a mechanical injector pump. The 1HD-FT was only available on the late HDJ80 models and came with a mechanical injector pump. So to answer your question somewhere during 1997/1998 when they switched production to the 100 series.
