Essex to Lido De Jesolo

ps has anyone used the digital autopass devices for the french toll roads?
so you just drive through and get billed on credit card?
We use one as well, saves a lot of messing about :icon-cool: we pay by DD.

French tolls are not cheap, but there is no Road tax to pay here (just a tax when you first register a car) + fuel is a bit cheaper too 1.37€/litre for Deisel at the moment I think. I use them once once or twice a year for trips back to UK and I think it costs me something like 40€ each way - You can sit at 130kmh all day (unless its raining), very little in the way of road works few traffic jams (unless you are near Paris or End of July!)
Love em or hate em I think they are magic.

While I think of it, a couple more tips for driving in France........Speed traps all over, fixed and movable. Stop signs - STOP for at least 3 seconds, even if the road is clear both ways. Not a stop 'n' go like UK - usually a fed in watching distance, behind a bush..........Finally RED Triangle with an 'X' on a white back ground means the traffic from the right has Right of Way - ie, bumbling along at 50kph in a village and old geezer in his 'sans permis' can and do come out from a side road onto the main road - allways be aware of this rule! The Feds will pick on Foreiners as they are easy pickings - ie confiscate car if not paying fine - they will take you to a cash point!

Happy holidays
