On the subject of those large Merc/MAN/etc trucks....whilst I can see some of the benefits of space and to an extent security (when you're in it), carting something that large around the world has some serious limitations, high costs and practical issues. They remind me of mobilised cells, and not ways of engaging with local people and sharing interaction. Some I've seen are over 500,000 Euro, look like Jodrell Bank and are bloody obvious (that you have money)......and I just ask myself....why? They look great, I agree, but mountain tracks in Bolivia, narrow streets in Morocco (or just about anywhere), muddy jungle in the Congo......I'd be concerned of getting the thing stuck and not be able to get a tow/winch/turn-around/stuck in street.......must be stressful when driving....knowing that your family are relying on you to get through....
