Fob stopped working could it be something i did ?

Got sidetracked yesterday so didn't get the door card off and today batteries are so low truck wont start .

Disconnected the ground wire from tow socket to a bolt holding jack housing and the light is now solid on with both original and spare switch ?

Have I got this set right to test for parasitic drain ?

Touch on + terminal to disconnected negative

Driver's side battery, between + terminal and disconnected + lead.
I would select the 10A range on the meter to start with.

Edit.....forgot to mention, disconnect the +terminal on the passenger side battery!

Multimeter looks correct ?

And disconnect other battery I assume as it will pull power ?

Because I seemed ridiculous to me that simple courtesy lights could drain a battery that much I pulled the radio and suspect my plugging in a previous owners amplifier leads to my radio leads might have caused the drain , I didn't reconnect the light yesterday .

If the courtesy lights are 2x standard 5w filament bulbs thats getting on for 1A, almost 24Ah in 1 day so over several days it will add up.

I'd switch off the courtesy lights in the roof and take the bulbs out of the puddle lights.

Have the battery on fast charge now which i don't like doing but when its reading over 12v it can trickle all night . On my travels tomorrow so I owe you a pint if I've at least stopped the drain .

Well whichever way i do it + or - multimeter shows 0000 and thats with roof lights switched to door , 3 door lights working correctly and one unplugged from the harness

I can live with that until i can get someone who doesn't feel ill just looking at car electrics to remove all the junk wiring i inherited .

I will give the fob a go when i can start the truck but it no longer seems important .

That doesn't sound right. Even with the courtesy lights disconnected you should get some reading from the clock, alarm, radio memory etc..
If you've used the 10A setting on the meter, did you move the pos lead to the 10A position?

I give up , I'd accidentally swapped hazards and difflock (modified) switch on dash . Hit the hazards and everything is working except the hazards ?

I'm baked dry and out of time , it can trickle charge all night to get me where i'm going
