Thought I'd give the fuel tank a once over, and a coat of paint. Also allowed me to have a look at those hard to reach parts were it sits. Nothing a bit of red oxide won't fix.

If I may make a suggestion . . . Remove the fuel pick-up and check the sock filter.

It might look like this :icon-eek: :

Holy crap ! That's a mess, were you down on power ? Will be having a look at that for sure! Which one is that? The single one ore the one with 2 pipes coming out?

Its the one with two pipes (Suction Feed & Spill Return), the other is a breather:

I put a new unit in as mine had rusted through, letting air into the system and making starting very difficult. Its all OK now.

Its OK to clean the filter - you don't need to replace it.

I hadn't noticed it being down on power - just the starting issues.

Can't for the life of me find it now but the pickup on my 120 looked the same as the one Bob shows. I had tree leaves in the tank too...

If you're that far into the job you might as well take a look at the pickup.

hi Bob, took out the filter tonight, was clean compared to yours!
The tank was in pretty good condition just small patch of surface rust on top.
painted a few spots on chase and underside while tank is out.
