From our new (2004) VW Passat Estate 1.9TDi 130 Highline
I replaced our 2001 Volvo V70 T5 Geartronic some 5/6 weeks ago after three years of totally trouble free motoring with the Passat after much soul searching and research as to what would suit our current family needs for the next three or four years.
Not only am I getting twice the mpg 33/34mpg round town as opposed to 16mpg in the Volvo and clearly 50+mpg on a run as opposed to 26/28mpg in the Volvo, but the Passat's road fund TAX is only £165 as opposed to £260 in the Volvo and the Insurance is only £280 as opposed to £495 with the Volvo
Happy days
I took the Passat on my longest run in it to date into Colchester down the A12 (dual carriageway) about 36miles round trip to pick up the wife's Christmas present that I keep missing the delivery of
Loaded the four kids in with bikes, scooters etc as went to park afterwards for fun on the swings
There's also the full First Responder kit and a second O2 cylinder in the boot as I'm logged on tomorrow. A Tuff Tub full of all that tat that one needs to carry in ones car and a dog guard! So quite loaded up and 52.8mpg @ a prety constant 70mph ish
I just had to share, sorry
