Hi Malcolm
I am trying to find a local place and I=92m aware that I don=92t want to be
driving it far; I=92d rather not have to drive it at all right now!
Worcester seems like a dessert when it comes to decent motor engineers.

Peter,
I had a freelander head gasket done a couple of years ago, also had the
clutch and timing belt replaced at the same time round =A3850 for the lot =96
done by a local garage, quite a small outfit but the mechanic is ex Land
Rover, sort of comparable only a little 4 pot engine, little clutch but
quite a bit of work as the head bolts hold the crank on.
Given the regularity of failure on the K series head gasket, particularly
when fitted to the Freelander I suppose I had the advantage of a head gasket
being almost routine. I suspect, as you said, that you garage doesn=92t want
to tackle it =96 it that is the case I would find another garage but don=92t try
to drive too far!

Thanks Neill
Yes mine=92s gone between 5 and 6 on the exhaust side.
How long ago did you have yours done, and where?
If it=92s a known issue and the gasket has been redesigned was it the subject
of any recall and has anyone approached Toyo about paying for it?
Do you have a link to any 80scool articles?
My quote was for =A31300 !!!! I would have thought =A3800 was steep but that=92s
now looking cheap.

Mine cost me just over =A3800 GP. It's a known issue, apparently, and there's
a revised gasket available as a replacement. Take a look at the 80scool
list, where there are a lot more petrol engined vehicles in Oz and USA.
I assume it's gone between cylinder 5 & 6?

A lot!
Hi John. I=92ll come clean about the quote later but =91m interested first to
see what others think is a reasonable price for the job before I influence
the thinking
The price I=92ve been quoted seems to me to be a =93We don=92t really want this
job so lets give him a silly price=94 type of quote
