Hi guys.
needing a little input with the water heater.

As far as I know these should heat the water to 80 degrees then go into tick over mode until temp comes down then the heater will start up again.

Ive got the problem at the min where the heater just keeps goin on full power and not shutting down. The engine feels hot etc so do the pipes.

Will the heater I have be faulty in some way and not be heating the water properly as it should?

With all due respect I'm not looking for people guessing etc I'm looking for someone who knows the answers.

cheers karl

Hi Rich. Thanks.

Does the lead just plug into the lap top? If I remember right yours is the air heater. They don't give many problems to be honest. I've had a fair bit to do with the air ones. My issue is I've had nothing to do withe the water ones and don't really understand what should and shouldn't be going on.

ive just bought another heater off eBay so we shall see if its the heater that's faulty.

Yes, plugs into three points, +12v -12v and diagnostic wire then a USB in the computer and use Edith diagnostic software downloadable from tinternet.

If I was allowed a guess I would say to check the temperature sensor. A, it's connections, B it's where it should be.

Is it something that has worked and now failed, or is new to the truck and unknown? Already fitted or second hand?

If you've got a working heater coming then you can swap bits until you get it working. I know nothing about the water ones either I'm afraid. Only generic troubleshooting.

Thanks Rich. The heater is second hand. I'm a little further forward than I was earlier.

Ill get the new heater up and running then see whats what. Ill update this once I have the system running how I want it to.

If still challenged, have a look at my post.
I rigged it myself this summer, but its a webasto. some webasto can only be actuated by car computer, but some variants you can trigger them yourself, teh command wire is on ground, the device will have permanent positive wire on.
By the time the coolant temp will reach 70 deg will slowdown, u can clearly hear the fuel pump with less frequency.
I connected waterpump separately, will run as long as webasto has contact on. should probably work a little longer, but I didnt figure out how to do that.
hope this helps.
