Hi just posting in case it’s helpful to anyone else.. I was installing some aux switches in the bottom compartment of the centre console
To pop in and out the panel I had to pop up the panel around the shifters and found that there is a small sound deadening panel, square shape, thick rubber with foam backing and this had shifted and was sitting lose at the front of the selector stick… and it had to bend every time I moved the selector forward providing plenty of resistance…moved it to it’s rightful spot and the selector is smooth as butter.. ah the simple fixes eh!
