New to the cruiser scene, please coud anyone tell me what the prefixes mean, hj, hzj, etc etc

Hi Shane,
H refers to a Diesel engine, and then HZ, HD are different variations of the diesel engine.
Wikipedia actually is very good on Toyota engines; here's the links:
