injector pump woes

Hi Guys
I have tracked down an injector pump, guy says its off an auto 80 series
1995 but the pumps number is different to mine.
Is theree aq difference between the manual box IP and the auto box IP.
Do you know if it will fit, the doner pump is 221001-7590 and mine is
096000-6420.
I suspect its an upgraded version of mine but what do I know.
thanks

John,
It is probably an upgraded pump (constant policy of development
etc.), if it fits mechanically it should be settable for your cruiser.
It does come of a diesel, doesn't it?

Hi John,
It is most likely from a 24 valve which has more EGR stuff and other
bits and bobs.
Sorry, don't know if it will fit or not.

Hi clive thanks for the reply but as usual the only place I seem to be able
to get parts for the cruiser except Toyota is in the Uk, so a real case of
goods unseen, buyer beware, no return policy etc. And I really have a
problem trusting people in regards to the cruiser and my money.

Hi Guys
Any ideas about sourcing an injector pump.
I have spent days at this point trying to get one and just cant seem to do
it.
I have phoned and sent e-mails to over a hundred places and had no luck.
So it would seem that I only have about another 50000 breakers to try but I
cant.
I have tried the search links that were posted but they came back with
nothing.
So would you guys keep an eye out for possible donor cruisers for an
injector pumpplease.
thanks
john 92HDJ 80 1HDT

John,
I assume you haven't tried AAI in Holland, as I advised you.

Hi Roman
But of course I have last week and am waiting for them to get back to me,
sent them another e-mail today.
It seems that it will be just luck to pick one up second hand and then I
will have to get it overhauled to be sure its OK.
So im stuck in a place at the moment that seems to be difficult to get out
of (straight jacket) or it will be soon.
I cant get any one now to fix my pump and after paying two guys I really
dont want anyone else looking at it, especially if its suspect so i have to
get another one as advised but that seems to be difficult to do at the
moment.
Geese if I keep going like this ill have to pas this cruiser over to my
grand kids to be sure to get my use out of it.
I can see it now one gets money the other gets other valuable bits and bobs
and one poor guy gets the 40 year old cruiser. Can you imagine his face.
Anyway im going on again sorry but it helps instead of pulling what hair I
have left out.

John,
Ring this number +31 416 540167and speak to Maarten or George, if M.
is not available. Mention ELCO, explain the problem and ask if they
could do a part exchange.
When you get a new pump from them, don't bother with overhauling it.
Just make sure they check it themselves. I did a deal like this two
years ago and never touched the pump they sent me.

Hi John
Sorry to hear all of your troubles. If you remember I went thru similar
experience last year with my injectors and after two revisits it was
fixed so I cannot complain. Symptoms were similar in that rough idle,
little power low down but revved easily. It was down to the setting up
of the injectors though not the pump itself. I did not have the pump
rebuilt as my man felt it was in reasonable shape.
I have asked him about your problem and he would take the pump and
rebuild/replace it for you but of course having the car is the best
solution and he is here in London. So location of car could be an
issue. I have passed him the part number and asked him to see if he can
source a replacement for you, at a sensible price I should add!
Re the 2" lift I have the same and I have noticed that since this was
done there is a new vibration at 60mph that reduces once doing 66mph
also if you go over a bump the note changes as well? However, I also
did the exhaust at the same time and it maybe that it is the exhaust
resonating rather than the UJ but I suspect it is the UJ. Now this is
interesting as I was assured that no caster correction was needed for a
2" lift????
All the best

Hey Simon
Thanks for the help.
The problem now is that because my second guy has said he wont toutch the
pump because he thinks the casing could be off another vehicle and he wont
toutch the insides because he said once he starts doing that the price will
just go up and up .
He also pointed out that he could replace a few bits, put the pump back on
and no change then repeat the proceedure several times and get nowhere exept
have a heavier wallet at my expense.
I really dont want to send it off to someone else because im afraid they
will just give me the same story after paying them aswell.
My guy did insist that the injectors are in really good shape because I
would have other issues other than what i have at the moment if they were
acting up.
Its a really hard one to call.
Do I pay to get it taken out again sent off again and pay again for a third
time lucky maybe.
Do I pay for a second hand one then get it tested , pay to get it over
hauled and put in.
Or go for a new one and bite the empty wallet and maybe sell the house hold
furniture

John
You don't have to buy an old one and then overhaul it-just waist of time and
money:
a new one at AAI is 2000 euros!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
cheers

Hi John
Roland my injectors man will simply take your injection pump in part
exchange and give you a "new" one that is set up and calibrated to
factory spec. I have no idea of cost but we all know it ain't going to
be cheap!!!!
All the best

Hi Guys
Geese a busy day yapping about cruisers to guys.
I was talking to Bob in RVS Id say for a good 25 minutes, a really nice guy
and knows his stuff it would seem.
He gave me options .
I then got talking to George in AAI and another half hour later on the phone
I have more options.
So maybe ill get there but there would seem to be no cheap way out of this
injector issue other than take it off and send it to RVS for a ?80 check
but that may not solve anything.
A new injector pump would be about 4000 euro from Toyota and about 2000 from
AAI he thinks at the moment.
Still a hell of a lot of Euros.
I will have to really think for a few days and see what happens and keep
those nasty destructive thoughts about my cruiser away , that will be hard
to do I think.
Roman is yours a Manual or Auto because the number you gave me does not
match with my cruiser according to George.
And there I am sending out this no to breakers yards.
He gave me a IP no of 22100-17590 as mine but said it is no longer available
from Toyota anymore.
So I cant spend the 4000 euro even if I wanted to.
But he said that the IP from the years 92 to 95 should fit and work item no
221001-71710.
It would appear there are different pumps for different regions and
different ones for the Auto and the Manual aswell.

John,
Mine is auto. I guess the injection pump number you quoted is the
Toyota number, mine was given to me by the guy who last worked on the
pump as the Denso number.
Did you ask how much they would offer for your pump?
