I was thinking of buying an injector removal kit with the idea of removing one injector getting it checked and reconditioned before pulling them all. I see a lot of different kits on ebay from 12- 40 piece and wondering if anyone has any experience of these or is there a specific type or size required. Will the kinetic hammer type do or will only a hydraulic puller work. I have no Idea if they have ever been out before and truck now has 230k so they could be in there from new.

I pulled them with a home made slide hammer. Didn't know you could get a kit. Didn't take much fetching out.

Tip though. Use some brake cleaner or similar solvent and clean best you can around the injector after removing the clamp. Then hit it with an air line. Shift any crud in there. Because, there is the chance that bits of dirt and so on can fall in jamming the injector as you try to pull it. Cleaner the better.

Good idea, Loosen it then remove debris before pulling it clear. The kits start about £30 but still not sure what diameter of clamp is required so will measure an injector to see which size I will need to go for

Actually does anyone know what brand of injectors are fitted in a 12v

I actually screwed a small bolt into the injector itself. Something like 6mm. Couple of taps and they were out. Used a shotgun brush to clean the ports in the head. Perfect fit.

when I did mine on the HDFT I ordered a new set of Toyota ones from amayama and they were close to the same price as getting mine reconditioned, I don't know if that would apply to the HDT ones as well

Interesting point although there is nothing making me think that they are worn so I thought see how one looks before tackling the rest but would be curious to see what amayama are quoting Out of curiosity I was going to get pressure testing kit and do that as I go just to get an idea of what condition the engine is in. I assume if its a bosch pump then its bosch injectors as well

I did as Chris did here - homemade slide hammer etc.

Also, I scraped around, vacuumed and then blew out the crud whilst applying penetrating oil over a week or so. When it came to, a slight twist left and right and they all just pulled out.

Like you I had no real need to change but I figured at 200k miles they must be ready, I was disappointed to feel no difference when changed.

Dont forget the new copper sealing washers for the seat and return rails.

To remove the injectors on a 1HD-T motor you can use the clamp that holds them in. Remove the pipes and clamps. Drop an old 8mm bolt in the clamp bolt hole and use the clamp upside down as a lever. Tap gently on the end and it will pivot on the 8mm bolt head, levering the injector out.
Worked for me on the bottom of the world.

Maybe being upside down before you start helps!

Useful tip that. Thanks. If I can work out how to hang the cruiser upside down I'll do that next time. :)

I got mine out with a pry bar but it does bruise the metal a bit.

Chaps my time has come to replace my injectors, as i am based in SA and not hte UK anymore I am unable to afford the time of removing and sending them off to a UK shop and have the refurbed. So new tips and copper seals seem like the best route.

Is there a go to Ebay seller on merchant for Injectors for a 1HD-FT.

Thanks

Why not buy them in SA, should be the same no?

Everything here is imported and cost a fortune and with the rand having strengthened against the pound it may be cheaper to get them in the UK and brought out is my thinking if i can get a cost

I remember that very well, my thought was that the LC was sold as a south african model so there must be a diesel specialist or two out there who would be able to recondition your injectors or supply parts for less than the price of parts imported from the uk?
