Injectors and the exhaust

Hi all
Not wanting to bore the cruiser board with the ongoing stories of my woes but......
Firstly, Froggies seem to be keen to keep my business and have stepped up to the plate with regard to giving me a special price on the new OME shocks.
Secondly, the injectors. Well it was expensive! =A370 per injector fully refurbed. 3 hrs work and bits and bobs I wont say what the total was but put it this way July was a horrendous month for me. Hence the car will just have to pogo round the corners a bit longer.
When I collected the car she started easily (always did tho) and ran smoothly. Paid the man and drove off. Seemed to rev well with not a trace of smoke. Got to westcombe hill and the car was woolly going up the hill in second. Normally she charges up in third with no hesitation. Felt sluggish no guts, torque seemed to be reduced? However, the car is no longer stumbling when facing up hill! Idle is: cold 750-800 hot 350-450 and uneven. When cold starts but vibrates more than normal.
Any ideas? During the work on injectors he cleared all pipes and tubes with air and then bled the whole system. Replaced all the washers shims seals with new. I am dropping the car back weds and he will re test them and re tighten the injectors to the correct numbers. He does think the IP needs attention but will leave it till we sort the injectors.
All the best

Hi Simon,
Yes the injectors were expensive, I can get the injectors done for between =A312-24 each and the seals in the pump replaced for around a couple of hundred, although you would have to take them out yourself.
If they have turned down the load volume screw on the pump this will reduce the smoke, but also the power - ideally they need to strike a balance between the two.
The variation in tick over is odd - when you try it again, make sure the aircon is off - this alters the tick over which will mess up the readings. Once you have re-checked the tick over and I have had some more coffee I should be able to steer you in the right direction ;-)
Cheers,
Julian

He replaced all the wearing parts except the body of the injectors and
after cleaning they looked nice and shiny (on the outside at least). As
it is a two stage injector he had to send them away to a bloke that has
the right equipment to set them up. All new seals, shims etc. He will
re do it and keep car till its right.
The idle is mystifying me but I have no aircon so I should not see any
variation due to aircon load on engine?
All the best

Hi Julian,
Something fishy is going on if you can get dual spring cruiser injectors
serviced for 12-24 pounds. Maybe seriviced but to set them up properly
is 4+ hours for a set of six. Nozzles cost about 30 pounds each unless
you are buying chinese copy's and if you are lucky they will last a
couple of month's and hopefully not kill your engine when they die.
Cheers,
Craig.

Hi Craig
The =A370 includes full refurb and setting up of the two stage. This is why it's expensive as it's original equipment parts in the injectors not dodgy Chinese stuff. According to the injectors man! Who knows for sure though.

Hi Craig,
I'm not that worried, the firm has been doing the injector work for all the
dealers in the area since the LC's first came out. They have all the
correct kit for the testing and setting up in house so don't need to use
any third party and I suspect they have a reasonable stock of parts.
I understant that any parts they don't have in stock they get from Toyota,
but have a very good discount.
The key thing is that they do not remove the injectors and pumps - you have
to do that

Julian,
Perhaps I should have the injectors done, too.
Are you sure they do two stage setting for that price?
ISTR that a new injector can be bought for =A370. If the =A312-24 job is
good enough, there's no point spending =A3420.

My man says that its =A3150 an injector + vat for completely new injectors. =A379 is for re conned + consumables + labor + vat tested on a two stage system. I got mine slightly cheaper because he felt sorry for me.
