Hallo Everybody
My name is Michael Schaefer, i am 42(younger member?)and currently in the
UK for contract work. Before that i lived in Switzerland, Germany and South
Africa. Main interests are travelling, diving and ..., i dare not say since
you guys have banned the foxes.I have just bought two LCs from japan with
the idea of travelling back to South Africa or in northern africa later in
the year. My experience with Cruisers is very limited and i am going to ask
you a lot of Questions, so please be patient. The cars I bought in Japan
simply because you get the modifications i wanted and it costs the same like
a "normal"
Cruiser here.
Mike, waiting for the Cruisers to arrive

Hi Michael
Welcome to the group and hope you find all the info you need as I think you
will. I welcome someone else who is going to ask loads of questions cause I
usually ask too many at times. So ask away, where are you from apart from
all the places you have been. I have to say there are a few of us that will
be very envious of you , having two cruisers, maybe one for the weekdays and
one for the weekend. If you find its too much having two cruisers to look
after, you can always send one over to me ill even pay the postage.

Hi Mike,
Welcome (again).
I have decided that I'm not going to do any mods to my current LC, but
later this year will look to import the newest 80 I can lay my hands on
from Japan and then use that as a base vehicle for day to day use and
overlanding in the future.
When you have a moment, I would be interested to get in touch with your
contacts with a view to importing one.
Do spill, don't worry we are not a particularly PC bunch with one or
two at least involved in shooting and hunting.

They may have banned it but people are still hunting from what I can see
and frankly any sensible person is appalled at the wasted time and money
on the issue - if only they would direct the same effort into human
rights or endangered species.
I wouldn't be surprised if the majority of people who voted for a ban
have never seen a fox and think they're cute furry cartoon characters.
My inlaws neighbor had a fox in their chicken runs while they were away
and the carnage shows how cute foxes are! The anti hunting lot would say
they're only doing what comes naturally - well so are the dogs and
humans. Before anyone gets too uptight about dogs killing foxes they
should consider how much harm and mental torture might be done to
animals in general to sustain our modern way of life and what they are
doing to prevent it.
My partner is a vegetarian and conservationist and even she thought the
hunting ban a complete nonsense fuelled by chips on shoulders.
Despite my rant do I think hunting is morally correct? Probably not but
if I could ride it looks an awful lot of fun and probably the least of
my crimes as a human driving a 4.2l diesel and enjoying meat and leather
goods. Not to mention my fondness for all the other modern comforts.
Ian.
