yep - got same crazy wind on the beach at Keel, Achill. Not much sleep in RTT. Easy day afterwards with Mayo 4x4. Nice scenery. Only 4x4 was when I went sideways into a ditch and had to get winched out!!

I have the option of a week in mid-August for the West Coast, but will be in the MX5.......i'm guessing its crazy busy with tourists then Thalel?

Could be; not sure as recently back myself.
If it gets busy then easy to take more of the back-roads (few miles in from the coast) and still see great scenery. If it rains then lots of tourists stay inside. Also if you are an early riser then a lot of the sites (e.g. Cliffs of Moher) are empty until the larger tour buses come by after 10am etc.
