You're welcome Dervis! It's been a while since hanging out with my good friends from The Neatherlands. The project there looks like a great combination of parts! Would have thought that it will come to Wales again when completed!

Mind telling me what wheel/tyre combo your running on that Iwan please ?

Yo Shayne... they're 315/75r16 on 16" by 10" modulars! They do sometimes look a bit small with the 125mm lift. I am not sure of the offset but I put a straight edge across the rim and from that to the centre they measure 145mm from the outside.. I'd be interested to know the offset.

At a wild guess they look like modular 15” x 8” with a hefty offset (or spacers) and maybe 285/85/15 tyres ... ??

Thanks Clive it's certainly a very unique looking 80.. has road presence had a fair few people showing that they like it whilst caning it on the autobahn!! You need a long run in your cruiser to really get to connect with it!!

Yo Tony! been a hell of a good laugh and also drank way too many beers! Felt pretty rough yesterday! Didn't manage to make many improvements to the cruiser but I managed to fit a mechanical oil pressure gauge yesterday.. On the ferry back home at the moment but have a few more pictures to share! Take it easy mate

I think Clive might have missed that you have removed the the plastic wheel arches .

Maarten with his60.5 as its known! Originally from lapland with 750 000 km on the clock! A meticulous and hard working guy who would make sure that you get the correct part! Cheers mate!

Since Ive fitted the 1hdft in the oil pressure sender has been faulty. When you're on a long run and deaccelerting it told me that there was 0 oil pressure and after changing the bebs I felt really uneasy looking at it. So Laurens gave me a mechanical oil pressure gauge, a perfect Y Peice and a rated oil hose off his project 61 that he didn't want.

Worked perfectly. Not sure if a T piece would have worked out so well.

Zip tied to the gearlever. So I now know that I have great oil pressure. .
new bebs cold startup 4.0 -4.2 bar
Warmed up 2.5 bar.
60mph 3.0 bar
70mph 3.5 bar
85mph 4.2ish bar.
then as you exit the motorway 2.0bar when the factory gauge tells me that I have 0! So a very good way to know the health of your engine!

So the bonus of finally collecting my terrain tamer hd +50mm 60 series suspension. They're a hefty bit of kit!

A nice dutch town..

I tried to capture the difference between the sea on the right and the inland lower water level Lake that keeps the Netherlands free from flooding. It's slightly visable there.

Back on the ferry! Long journey and can say that the 81 is the best long journey motor that I have! Completely love it!

wheels chocked up as the hand brakes on these old trucks are not the best!

Done nearly 1400 motorway miles arrived home and back into snow mode!

Thisis a deep one! As Geoffrey with a g was real low on fuel.. there's no choice! Have to get through there! And the only way is to.....

Go 80 stylee with it! Lol stuck in the hedge! Im proud of getting through there but not very happy that I made a mess of the hedge!

Good to have a before and after pics tho!

Hard to find another route home so across farm tracks to get home!

Haha that's quite a contrast @Victor Valentim ! I thought that the difference between conditions in Northern Germany and mental snow in Wales over a couple of days was nuts.... but +40 c is/was quite incomprehensible!
A couple of pics. Been doing some miles recently and getting plenty of smiles from use!

A tight fit in a multi storey car park.. took the pic because it was supposed to help me find the truck! Just had to look over the tops of the cars to see it there! (I'm a hillbilly so not used to multi story airport car parks!) Lol

Been out on a long drive today usual towing setup and have done 3200 miles since the 3 big end knocks! So am over the moon with it!
Done between fill ups 333 miles on 76 litres / 16.7 uk gallons makes 19.94 mpg today.. some hilly A roads motorway out ward bound and motorway @ 65 - 75mph towing home. Not a heavy load really.
Best run Uk to Holland earlier in the month 27.5 motorway steady 60 to 65...
75 - 80mph 24v 24mpg with auto diffs of course (no trailer this time!) very often getting 23.8 to 24.2 mpg
12 valve auto same setup ie wheels lift exhaust heavier towing 50-60mph 13.72 miles per gallon
12v no trailer no more than 60mph long run 18.5mpg

There's no doubt that the 24v is much more fuel efficient from my experience. Quieter and more refined.

Above all the 80 is a very good towing vehicle and with this one I completely trust it...... after all there's no better way to know your truck than to strip it down to bits and put it back together!

Had a good 3 hour hit on the 81 this evening. . After going to trevs bash it developed a diesel leak on the main diesel return pipe. What a horrible job!

Fortunately the pipes on the 24v were good. There were a couple of areas of surface rust! I took the pipes off a couple of weeks ago and sanded them out, rust treated, etch primed and used some paint tin of red enamel that's been kicking around here for a while! (Honest I dont paint brake callipers!). But they're coated.

Rusted through above the gearbox cross member! Suppose that the pipes are the same material as the brake pipes.

Quite a nasty job. There are obstructions...
hand brake cable, rear prop, centre fridge ac pipework and clutch slave pipe. I've been putting the job off for a couple of weeks or so.. but mission successful and it's back on the road! Really happy to have it back... as much as I love the kz 70 its a bloody bone shaker! 81 very smooth and more importantly comfortable! Really like it! The fuel lines are worth a check on your 80.. as it's not a pleasant job to replace them. I'm going to wax oil these from now on!

Fair to wax oil the fuel pipes but mine rusted around the clamps!... So a bit difficult to separate a rusty pipe from the clamps to treat them! Forgot to add this!

Very good point there Ben.. I actually didn't think of rubber hoses to replace.. I saw that the 24v ones were good despite the surface rust they're well reusable. Hard to change tho.

I like those blue nylon fuel pipes, they'd be a more permanent replacement too..

In this picture you can just see Clee Hill Shropshire. .. I know it as when I goto lincolm I pass there .. I did stop there on a clear day and I saw where I am parked there in the pictures.... I saw my destination and it felt really nice!
