Jap Imports

Looking through ads for 80s the sellers seem to be getting very
confused about what models they have and the spec levels.
I know the specs of the UK models pretty well off pat, but would like
to know a bit more about the Jap imports, particularly 95 onwards.
With the VXs with the cloth seats, are they electrically adjustable and
also do they have seat heaters - or was this only available with the
leather seats?
I know you can get Jap VXs with leather, but they seem very rare.
Finally, did they ever do the the wood trim on the Jap models?
Any pointers would be appreciated.

The Jap import I drove was a VX LTD with the nicest seats (and carpet) I
have ever sat on.Cloth but reminiscent of suede leather and the carpet was
definitely thicker.
The seats were heated but not electric except for the lumber support. This
seems to be standard for Toy seats.
I would buy the seats if I could find them!!!

I would agree with this.
My jap spec 92 HDJ VX Ltd has really nice alcantara-suede type seats and
deep pile carpet - much more 'plush' than my UK spec 95 FZJ VX or my old
UK spec 94 HDJ VX. The jap market clearly likes these things. It
doesn't have heated seats though, I don't think - though it has a
fridge/freezer instead.
Now it's all sorted and I'm offski soon, it's also for sale...
Cheers :)

Hi Dave,
I have come across that, I think it is called Alacantra or something
like that - it is also used in the Subaru Outbacks. I think it is
supposed to be as smart as leather, but more practical.
Whilst I liked the leather in my old 80, sitting on a hot seat leather
(from the sun) in shorts is not pleasant, nearly as bad as the old
plastic covered seats you used to get.
