Hi
I’m Wai.
Just bought a 02 plate KDJ95.
It’s a lot of rusty on rear axle.
Any suggestions for this?
Thank you very much

flaked.
Around rear chassis and axle.

I’m planning to paint some rust converter on it after removed those flakes.

Make sure there are no dark patches when you wire brush and remove 'flakes'.
This would indicate the axle casing is porus and casting thin, - no amount of rust converter or paint will cure that. If it looks sound, make sure you thoroughly prep/degreaser before any coating you put on, or you are wasting your time.
Fingers crossed, at worst it could be a small weld job if casing thick enough, if not, others have changed the complete axle casing from Milners.
As Karl said, check that rear chassis, Stuzbot had a problem there.

Here’s a lot of pics from rear axle/underbody.

Top right corner of the first pic shows what i think is a trailing arm bush more exposed than it should be which suggests a bit of welding is on the cards .

Chip off all the loose stuff and go at it with a pressure washer before taking photos again .

+ 1. Agree with that.
The bush itself looks to have had it too, note top edge showing, but rust/rot is your prime enemy.
Yep, blast/peel/chip it for further investigation.
TBH, although it's the wrong time of year if no undercover area, the whole underside would benefit from pressure wash/chip off and treatment before it gets any worse.
There are lots of areas shown in just those few pictures that could be rot or just cracks in the underseal which has had it, all those edges of cracked underseal are ideal breeding areas for rot, as they will trap moisture.
Check that rear diff actuator too.

As above. Be interested to see the MOT history on this one - see what they've picked up on already in testing?

Good point. I don't know if the OP knows he can check online using his reg no.
Check it out Wai and let us know.
