Just wow

Portal axles, skid plates, high ground clearance and a shed full of electronics controlling it all no doubt. With that sort of spec it should be supremely capable off-road but Im not sure which sector of the market it’s actually aimed at. I’ll bet a suitably prepared one would do very well in the Dakar.

I like that , but will they fly it to China so some kid who knows how it works can fix it for you every time it breaks down under warranty ?

Dakar is probably the plan Towpack , don't they have to sell a few to the public before they can win in a production vehicle class or something ?

merc are not afraid to make very expensive, low volume vehicles.
the G wagon and Unimog are "handmade". hence there very high price tag.
the u140 for example saw only about 1400 units made iirc, the u100 a similar amount. this was with allegedly a design cost of £80000000.
the model shared virtually nothing with its predecessor or successor.
