Given the problems the handbrake gives 80 owners and others with a similar systems I have posted this up on a separate thread, I should not have contaminated Chris's brake write up...sorry.
I had a car once that, like others of that make, had a handbrake that was either off or slightly on. As if the clicks were not close enough. I overcame this by incorporating a heavy spring in the circuit. The brake cable/ rod went through the center of the spring and the outer from the other end. this way you could wind the handbrake hard on and the spring took up any slack that might appear after the car was parked and also during normal wear. Worked really well.
