Hello All!
I would like to kick in too.
Yes I have had both Land Rover 90 & 110 & the later Defender 90 & 110. Also the post `07 PUMA models, that one in terms of HEVAC cannot compare with previouse models. The do get both HOT & COLD on drivers demand.
I hav also had among others a LC90.
The closest Land Rover to a LC90 of the same era would be the Discovery 1 & 2. Both in terms of Interior, Space & Power.
The 90/110 & later the upgraded Defender would be more comparable with LC J7 HD-versions.
So comparing birds & fish is abit...... hmmm
I agree totally with regards to towing trailer. I tow alot & I find the long wheels base to be great with heavy loads. I have towed quite alot & heavy loads with a 2013 Defender 110 LXV (luxury Pack).
With an power upgrade the thing runs very neat, including when towing.
As far as both running & servicing costs; They are right up there with original Toyo prices.
I have wrenched enough on the later Ford engines, 2.4&2.2 to have an "informed" opinion
The LR 90 is different in many ways. Towing with it I find very scary...
The LR90 is conveniently short both offroad & when parking. I always wanted one & after having had one for abt 10 Month, it went. They are also less stabile on icy roads....
If I was to have one again, it would have to be a play-thing Even bone stock original the perform GOOD offroad. As said above, I would prefer the 300Tdi for its simplicity & the running costs.
The Td5 is a mix between mechanical & Electro. Which does present some challenges even if the electrics are overseable. The cracking heads & pissing injectors we also know from Toyo`s so lets be honest; Nothing lasts forever & anything can be broken.
Both LR & LC rust! Some more than others. Parts for the LR are affordable. Repairing f.i. the frame on a LC is way more work than on a LR. Aything can be unbolted from a LR.... with the benefis & challenges that that presents. Where a LR may break a halfshaft, the LC axle casing will rot to bits....
My personal favorite (R that is) would be a LR90 V8 (have had 1) OR a 300Tdi as a fun vehicle. Daily runner, not towing. If it was to be my only vehicle, It would have to be a post `07 PUMA model. At least it heats up.
Apart from that I cherish my Range Rover Classic. A car that in many many ways is pretty similar to the LC90 when looking at space, size etc. BTW the frame is the same as on a Discovery1.
I have had a KZJ95 & I have towed with it. It runs fine. There is no huge power available & with a stickshift one needs to work it. The interior is hmmm, space inside is okay. Boot probably smaller than a LR90.
I am no huge fan of brand slaying as every brand has its pros & cons.... I did want to share as I have been in owning both LC & LR. It is not all Black or White sometimes
Yes, I will invest in a Cruiser pretty soon for myself

& the SWMBO is wanting a LC too
