Hi,
My wife has an LJ71 (I think) and it needs a headlamp, do any of
you know of a source? The car is similar to the LJ70 but has square
headlamps instead of round. No joy on Milners website. Thanks.

Hi Clive,
I am currently starting to scrap my old KZJ70.
This has the square lamps on it?
They maybe in need of a cleanup (some mud in them, dried out..) but you are
more than welcome to them.
The vehicle is currently in storage, I will hopefully retrieve some bits at
the weekend(lamps if required) and send them off Monday if you like?
Let me know if you need them?
Regards
Martin.

Or maybe even we can negotiate a swap, your wife's locker for my lamps ;-).
That was the one with the locker in?, hehe only kidding.

Martin,
Yes please, let me know if you want anything for them. Let me
know when you need the address. Why are you scrapping it? If you have
already said on here I have forgotten, sorry.
Regards,

HI Clive,
It's a KZJ70(same as lj70 with square lights) with a 3.01KZT diesel engine,
it had low oil pressure and still runs... well did and that's where the
story starts :).
Whilst out wheeling in some mud I cooked it by plugging the radiator, the
good old 1kzt did not nothing to warn me until it stalled, then I restarted
it continued driving for a bit then it ticked over 500 rpm all of a sudden
that's when I noticed my oil pressure :-(.
Changed the BEB bearings, no difference. Did not measure anything they
looked pretty battered anyway.
Drove for a further 500 miles or so, done some more wheeling, damaged a CV I
guess, clickety noise coming from the front wheel area when the front hub
locked up, but NOT in 4x4 mode via the switch.
Whilst driving one evening I revved it quite hard and it made a horrible
ticking noise from head, never heard that one before :-(.
So I decided to change the oil pump as a last ditch effort which we did,
unfortunately I believe this process has killed the injector pump, groan....
In the process of trying to get the injector pump to work we blew the tank
pipe of for the fuel, hehe :).
The engine needs a rebuild, at this stage I thought it's easier to get
another one, and they are going for =A31600 for a 3.0.
Did not want the hassle and costs of a rebuild so am stripping the OME
shocks, snorkel, tyres and wheels, gearbox, turbo, new exhaust for my new
KZJ70 which I have now
As someone said once "the pig is dead, long live the pig..." :).
I am not a mechanic and hate taking things apart, as you can see ;-).
If anyone has a trailer and wants it after I am finished they would be more
that welcome to take it.
Let me know if you require anything easy to take off, the panels are beaten
with dents and no good, the back doors, bonnet is ok but the person would
have to take the vehicle for those bits as I do not have time or skills to
take those bits out. The lights i will probably struggle, hehe.
I may even take the rear diff as well for a locker install, Julian how much
to fit it :) ???
Thanks
Martin.

Clive,
You better send the address details to send it too
[Email address removed] ?
I will try and get up in the week one evening and have a go?
Do you want both or one, if so which one?
Thanks
Martin.

Martin,
It may be easier to change the axle rather than fit the locker to
a new one. The Toy. axles with lockers have a cutout for the actuator
that is not easy to replicate.
Both lamps would be nice, that way if the one is not a match I
will still have a pair. The nearside one is the damaged one.

Hi Dennis,
I am located in Berkshire, Reading, don't know if that's close enough to
yourself?

Hi Clive,
Got the light off this morning, hopefully they will be ok.
Will dispatch them today or Monday.
If I was going to fit a toy axle with locker(Electic or cable if you can get
one) can you advise on what size or vehicle I should looking to grab one
off?
Or do I just get a arb locker?
Sorry if its a stupid question but I really would not know where to start?
Thanks
Martin.

Martin,
Thanks for the lamps, let me know how much I owe you.
On the locker front, I would try to source a Toyota electric if
you want to go the second hand route. Compare the size of your axle
to the size of the donor axle. I do know that the 80 series and the
90's share axles but can't comment on the 70's as I have never
checked. I will look the wifes over when she gets home.

Hi Clive,
Don't worry about any reimbursement, put into Julian's Beer fund for the
next Salisbury trip.
Hopefully you should have received the goods by now?
Martin.

Martin,
I have received nothing to date, give the Post office time. When
did you post them?

Clive,
I posted them last Tuesday. Guess they will arrive shortly...

Martin,
I went to get the lamps today, they had been dropped of about a
mile away at another Rose cottage, different post code and they
usually get it right but there we go. Thanks for them, a suitable
donation will be given to Julian for the next Salisbury trip, or
whatever.

HI Clive,
That's good to hear you got them.
Hopefully they were not too muddy inside, they looked like a sealed unit so
don't know if you can clean them out.
I bet my bulb goes now ;-).
Martin.
