Lost the Rev counter!

The Rev counter on my 80 has stopped working. Sure it's not alternator on the blink. I took the top off the diesel pump to replace the o ring on the throttle spindle and nip up a loose injector pipe that was misting and now it just don't work. Any ideas anybody? Thanks in advance.

Couldbe either. I'll check tomorrow in daylight. Cheers. Just seems a coincidence it should stop just as I been playing. Believe it works from the alternator

Normally it gets its signal from the ip. From there it goes to the instrument cluster in the 12 valve or to the exhaust computer in the 24v.
In my 24v it was a burnt capacitor in the exhaust computer.
