Hi Roman et al,
Having spent the last year and a bit planning my SA move to very little avail, I'm sort of rebelling against plans at the moment, but there is a skeleton plan in place for Mali.
Essentially, this is a 'time off work' trip - i.e. a dash to Mauri, a more leisurely trip across Mauri to Mali and then a dash back. I'm inspired to do it by two British guys I met a few years ago on the Morocco/Mauritania border - they were in a camel trophy land rover and had just bribed their way North across the border (this is before it was open both ways), having got sick of Mauritania (which is an easy thing to do). Anyway, they'd gone from Gibraltar to Nouadhibou in about 3 days flat (including the convoy day you had to do back then) and were heading back to go snowboarding in the Alps on the way home.
Once in Mauri, it's Nouadhibou - Choum - Atar - Chinguetti as I've never been to 'the crater' before. Then either Nema or Timbedra to Nara, and then on to Timbuktu.
At the moment we are working on three weeks in Mauri/Mali, with about 5 days each side for getting there and back (ferry to Santander as my mate lives in Devon).
We are presently just two guys and one cruiser - but if anyone fancies it, we'd love to hear from them!! Hoping to leave just after Christmas this year.
Anyway - those are all the details I have thus far!
Cheers - Andy

I've switched to Millers oli. Too early to say if it's a good
decision, but the oil is reasonably priced and has a sort of following
on the motorsports circuit. Speak to Robin Longdon on 01606 836637 and
get a rebate when ordering a 20L container.
