Hi from Melbourne, Australia.
We have a 1992 HZJ80, the bare bones DX model. His name is Maurie.
Was a cheap risky purchase on eBay, diesel issues apparently. Luckily have access to a meticulous diesel injection specialist and had the entire system overhauled. Runs like a dream.
We are now ironing out a billion other kinks like power steering leaks, air-conditioning, miss aligned barn doors etc.
We have done a few things, Runva winch, Icom UHF, XR6 seats (replaced bench seat), fridge slide, ARB aluminium roof rack.
Future mods include 2inch lift, 33" tyres, custom rear bar and probably do my own front bar, centre and roof console (have none since we put in XR6 seats!), custom cargo bay drawers/barrier/slides, custom gull-wing windows, custom roof rack and who knows what else.
Goal is to be a light tourer with a camper trailer, to do long off road trips. Just did Binn's Track which was great. Also do a lot of weekend warrior stuff, on medium to sorta hard tough tracks.
I have done two separate laser scans of the vehicle already, inside and out. First scan was with a Leica RTC360, second with a Leica MS60. Scan quality was a little shit on both because it was rushed as it was done between jobs for work, but good enough to make a start. The next time will be a lot more refined and thorough now that I have more experience with the equipment and software. Happy to discuss and share if anyone is interested.
