New HJ60 Owner

If you intend to turn it around, did you consider putting it up as is, and let the new owner figure out how they want the work done ?

That's a fair point for sure. Im putting a lot of money into it, and will need a good return. I figure with a re built engine and mot it could be worth a decent amount to the right person. It was never my intention to sell it - but as the costs have gone up that's changed unfortunately!

Sorry to hear the bad news Adrian, I'd definitely seek a second opinion if you can, low compression might mean it just needs a set of rings, not a full rebuild. I do have a contact who rebuilds cruiser engines, he marinises 1HD-FT's to Yanmar spec for installing into boats and has owned over forty - 60 series over the years. He's in Norfolk though, but maybe could sort you an engine if you didn't want to trailer it down!!?

Thanks for this. Its a local specialist I was planning on using - and they will do as much or as little as is needed. I will then get it MOTd and put it on the market. A friend has Myreton Motor Museum in East Lothian. The truck will be on display in there while the engine is sorted - and then go back into the museum when I put it up for sale. Meanwhile I have just bought a 2006 100 series! At least I can drive this :]
