Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum and thought I'd say hello. :)

I have been building a Hybrid landcruiser for a customer for a while now, it is a 1991 80 series with a 40 series fibreglass extra cab body and pickup body. Hopefully I will start a thread showing some pictures of the build up until now for those that are interested.

Here's one pic for the moment;

Hi Jester, welcome to the 'sensible side'

I will be looking forward to the rest of the images, as soon as you are able to find time to post.

Looks great so far

Hi Jester - welcome to the forum.

That is a nice looking build - definitely interested to see more pics. Is that a twin front shock set-up I can see...?

Hi Jester,
Welcome, I've been following your progress on the other side.

Like Lorin, I'm very interested in learning about the twin shock front end as I have coil springs on my 40.

More pics and more info, please.

Regards,

Cheers for the comments guys. :)

I will start a build thread with pictures shortly.

Yes it is a twin shock front set up, Koni heavy track raid. I am a race mechanic every year in north Africa and the truck is being built for a customer to compete is such races.

Hey Jester- Lovely looking build- where did the body come from?

The body came from an "un-named" company in France, but has had a LOT of work since to make it geometrically correct and have a finish as shown. They are in no way gel-coated and are fairly rough finished.

Is that how much the shell costs jester????
I suppose you dont have the rot problem ever again tho after a build is complete. But will they crack etc or not?

Not that you're name dropping or using info from another thread of mine tho?.....
'Name dropping' isn't a problem here

Hey Jester,

Welcome to the Forum. Looks like a really interesting build. I'll definitely be staying tuned.

With regards to the twin shock setup up front and seeing as it's going to be used for races, why did you choose to go with that setup as opposed to using something along the lines of the Fox Shocks, like a single 2.5 remote reservoir shock for example?

Cheers
Ryan

Yep. The Euro was better when this body was bought tho. Alluminium ones from the states are more money. They are fairly thick in construction, so structurally fairly strong. I have re-enforced the pedal box area of the bulkhead with a 3mm laser cut plate either side, also the steering column support is located on to a crossbar from the rollcage. Also the side steps are heavily engineered to the chassis to (hopefully) protect the body from low side impact.
