New Wheels, New Boots! UPDATED - more pics

Got some new wheels which I had on the truck for couple months but the tyres were too small for my likings, so I've upgraded for some General Grabber 305 50 20" Tyres, got them fitted a couple days ago. The 305 50 equates to 32.3" when I measured it. The wheels are Lenso and are 9.5" wide with a 10 offset, which equates to -20 offset with my spacers. Had to heat the mudguard up and re-mould it so it wouldn't touch on full lock. All went well! Thought I'd share some pics with you all. Was going to wash her before taking pics but was too cold!

I know it's not everyone's liking but as most of you know I use my truck for the road 99% of the time.

Nice - I'm not a big fan of the big alloys/low profiles but they certainly do look good! ;-)

Nice wheels Beau, I'll look out for you driving round MK

Beforehand I was running 305 40 22" and there was nothing wrong with that setup, I just like change! The improved height for the side wall is a plus and I like how they really do fill the wheel arch. I was unsure if I had needed a small body lift to make it work so I'm very happy it works with just minor adjustments.

I wonder if you could squeeze a 33" tyre on stock suspension?

I'd say most 33's are not actually 33" when there on the rim . If you want a chunkier looking tyre next time i would consider smaller wheels with similar tyres to those you've got now .

very nice Beau they look smart and not very low profile :icon-cool:

Thanks Guys!

And shayne, that was a possibility but being I'm on road for 99% of the time, low profile tyre's suit my purpose more with road biased tyres as it improves handling and also towing stability. I found there was less wandering when towing with the lower profile tyres due to the stiffer sidewall.

And I've measured these and they are 32.3". I would imagine a more off road type of tyre with more than 12mm tread will cause more danger when rubbing.

It would still be interesting to see if a 33" tyre would fit on standard suspension though, I reckon you'll have to lose the mudflap and do some more body trimming in order to make it work

The 305x50x20's look like a good compromise.

A mate of mine has a big GMC pickup with 315x40x22's and he's forever pinching sidewalls trying to offroad it. Not even offroading, just driving up his stone track he's writing off tyres! (I told him not to buy that truck!)

Looking at the last pic Beau i'd say you've got the tyre size absolutely spot on , any bigger and they would be in danger of looking a bit cramped . If your determined to go bigger though a coil spacer lift can be almost any height you want and i found they seemed to firm up the ride on my truck reducing body roll and bounce . Quite a few forum members find that hard to believe and it doesn't make sense to me either but what can i say ........ even the kids noticed ?

I would very much like to remove the side steps as I feel it'll look even better and give a high stance, but the steps prove very practical for getting in and out....hmm

I removed mine for the off-road look but quickly decided my truck lost some of its sense of presence , the bulk seemed less somehow , possibly because my trucks all black but mines a shortie , seen a few 95's without steps and thought they looked good ?
