Yeah we are on schedule at the moment... got most of the main bits
organised and just have some of the smaller bits and pieces to buy and
sort out. My wife and I are originally from Perth, Western Australia
but we've been living in London for the last 4 years. Its now time for
us to head home so we thought why not drive :)
Going to go through Europe > Lithuania > Latvia > Estonia > Russia >
Kazakhstan > Back into Russia > Mongolia > China > Laos > Thailand >
Malaysia > ship car to Darwin, Australia > Drive home to Perth.
Its more about getting home and seeing stuff along the way so we aim
to do it in about 5 months and be home just before Christmas.
We have a 1993 LC 80 that has been under Julian's headlamp a few times
now. Been serviced well and just had a few bits upgraded like the
shocks, tyres, roof rack, snorkel, roof tent, leisure battery and
fridge. Don't really know much about 4wd-ing which is why we are
definately coming on the play day... but I think about 75% - 80% of
our trip will be on tarmac, the rest on gravel/dirt roads. Might get
into some more muddy terrain later in the trip as we will hit SE Asia
and the Northern Territory in wet season... but I'd rather that that
Mongoia in the winter.
So thats about it. I look forward to meeting you lot on the april
weekend and stealing whatever knowledge I can!
Cheers,
Duncan.

Hi Jeff,
The route at the moment is: Europe > Lithuania > Latvia > Estonia >
Russia > Kazakhstan > Back into Russia > Mongolia > China > Laos >
Thailand > Malaysia > ship car to Darwin, Australia > Drive home to
Perth.
A fairly straight-ish line through them all as its more about getting
home and seeing some stuff, than seeing everything these countries
have to offer. We could spend a year or more doing this trip, but we
can't really afford that sort of time off so its a quickish trip
instead :)
Cheers,
Duncan.
