Hi, my current insurance policy with Noel Dazely is being discontinued as they are (apparently) making a loss on it.
So tried Chris Knott and they declined me asi don't have a year's no claims (don't accrue a no claims bonus with current policy although will provide a letter to state I have had no claims whilst with them, but this wasn't acceptable).
2gether declined me as the landcruiser is not a second car and I do 9000 miles a year.
I'm gonna try flux but they've always been a bit rubbish for me and their customer service has been awful.
Is there anyone else to try?

I don't understand 2gether not insuring you - that's exactly what/who I am insured with... :wtf:

They seemed very sure I wasn't eligible. They said they only had one policy available for 4x4s with mods and I didn't qualify for it as we didn't have another car in the household and they wouldn't insure anything that did 9000 miles a year.

I shouldn't be surprised I suppose, logic and reason have no place on planet insurance.

Thanks I'll give them a try, I'd not realised they would insure anyone's vehicle, I thought it was farmers only. Are they ok with modifications?

They wouldn't insure me because of the London postcode, but if I lived 50yds further down the road I'd be OK because that would be in Surrey. :confusion-confused:

And yes - takes them a couple of hours to get their underwriters to sort it out but I was insured with them with no issues.

Until I said I had fitted a FoxWing awning and they wanted proof it was professionally fitted. WTF?!?!

Now in year 2 with Adrian Flux

2gether is special insurance. Yes they have normal Ford Focus stuff, but to get the good prices it has to be special. Modified, classic etc. And one of the factors is that mileage is limited and that it's not you only car. Now this might sound either mean or stupid, but like I said it's specialist insurance. It also is named driver, it doesn't allow you to drive any other car - even third party. Hoops yes, but this is why my insurance with no no claims and a total loss claim is so good.

Chris

I'm with flux, 5 years now without any issues. Had two modded troops. The 80 is standard at the mo but won't be for long.
It's a second car tho and has a 5k limit, not covered for other cars etc, dont have commuting either as use a bike for work so brings price down, as Chris says hoops. Not paying a lot for mine with 12 years ncb. Named driver on the wife's policy so can drive our focus (made her policy cheaper!)

Thanks, I'm getting worried that I have modifications and no no claims bonus, so that rules out a normal policy, but then it's not specialist enough to qualify for special policies.

Woo! All sorted now. My current insurer (highway) have offered me a 'normal' policy so no off-road cover but will accept modifications, will turn my no-claims years into a proper no claims bonus. Price was £570 which is reasonable but at least after this year I'llhave 7 years no claims bonus.
Thanks very much.
