Noisey alternator

Hi guys.
I have a squealing alternator. The trucks my black one that's been off the road 7 years.
It started making a noise after around 200 miles. I tightened the belts up and it helped but now it's got worse.

Can the actual alternator be squealing itself?

Alternator rotor bearings can squeal. Mine did it when sat for ages then ran quiet after 50 miles. But I sent if out for a rebuild anyway

Belts have dried out would be my guess , if it squeals parked and stops when you spray wd40 or even soapy water on the belts then theres your answer .

Electric motors still spin on a bearing though I recently fixed a whistling hoover by removing the motor and piling copper grease on top of the tiny spindle hole then plugging it in and letting heat pull the grease in .

A bit belated but spray hairspray on the belt and if it stops squealing then you know it's a belt issue. Second thing is put your fingers in your ears. If it stops squealing then you know error that it doesn't matter when your missus finds out about the hairspray...

If it's the alternator then upgrade into a 120 amp 100 series one. That may not stop the squealing buy it will charge better.

Good idea, just done it on the 80, it does seem to get the voltage up pretty quick. The adjusting bracket is slightly different but as JW has said the 80 one can be modified with a Dremel type thing.
