A couple of years ago my old man started planning his retirement and wanted a toy to play with. After much discussion we came up with a plan. He provides the finance, I provide research and labour, and a specialist provides the finish. The result is a (rather expensive) shared toy we'll both get years of fun out of, even if it's strictly on tarmac!

1975 - Nevada import - rust free
Total rebuild top to bottom.
Full interior including Waeco fridge and dual battery set up
Just waiting on registration documents, so will have to trailer it home next week.

Nice job there Bob, that looks mint.

That's cute and beautifully finished. Lovely job there

That's very nice, hope you have many happy trips with it.

It came out well. We sorted all the running gear, new suspension, brakes and a reconditioned engine and gearbox. Gave it to a VW specialist here to do the bodywork and interior. It's basically a new van

Like that Bob, looks tasty, you've done a good job on that, I forsee some happy days traveling coming up for your Dad, and you, and a left hooker for "Sur Le Continent"
We (wife and I ) spent the whole summer, Whitsun to 5th Oct 1976 living and working in one like this on a local beach
I was a beach bum then, get up, surf, then go and hire surfboards and canoes out for the day, on the beach:Dbefore another surf or swim, then pub for "refreshments", did enjoy living in the van that summer
Like a bit more space these days

You still own that Bedford now Brian - nice.

The VW looks mint - my missus wants one but the current model.

Cruiser was on haulage duty to bring the bus home yesterday. 120 miles, most of it on B roads, and about 30 motorway. Even manged about 22mpg. Can't beat a bit of power

I remember being nervously carted off on holiday in my Dad's work colleagues Bedford Dormobile (my parents never learned to drive). As it would often break down I hated it and remember being really nervous of it. I was only 4 at the time.
