Weekend at kirton off road this weekend. What a awesome place. Highly recommend for a days off roading. Little mishap however. Only a few dents and a rear side window. Couple of hours with a porta power last night and some solid panels in the back and she's brand new!!!!!!other than this what a awesome machine these 80's are in the rough. Seriously impressed with some of the rediculous hills she climbed.

Awesome indeed, it takes a lot to stop an 80 going where you point it!

There's the dilemma for sorts like me that enjoy doing "silly" things but also like my 80 as a relatively tidy DD. The two don't really mix very well.

It's a matter of compromises, but I'd be gutted to have damaged the roof and guttering as much as you have .

I know that the truck in the photo is designated as a play toy, so I imagine you're not so concerned Gav.

I guess your face is still aching from the permanent 80 grin?

Was still a little gutted but as you say it's my toy and what it's for. When the body is beyond repair I know a man with a truck body 80 shell! !!!

Nice one :)

I've flopped it there a few times, the place can be very unforgiving but is one of the best locations in the UK for out and out off roading. The worst thing is I have no excuse, I know it intimately, I was one of the original group who set up KORC. When we first started there were virtually no tracks, some times it took months of trial and error to compact the ground to make tracks - good times!

This a picture a couple of years ago where I decided to flop it on a hill climb there - I cant resit virgin ground;)

Could this be the disadvantage of having a lift?

Love it Rodger. Awesome place. We will be back soon with more mates for another weekender. Took the bobtail but he bust a diff on Saturday so hitched a ride in the suzuki Sunday. Be a great place for a club meet sometime? ?????

Looks ace fun but like Clive i have the daily driver doubt .

Thats why some people have the weekend toy. The "off roader".

I'm thinking at that angle Rich, a lift will make little difference to its stability, and without a lift, he probably wouldn't have got that far in the first place.

Maybe it's too late to suggest fitting gutter mounted sliders, Gav...?

It is Clive. It's what it's for at the end of the day. I have 2 cherished 80 s on the drive as well as this. Wouldn't dream of putting either of those through the same. As I said before the oily bits on the truck are superb and the body although not at all rotten has had a hard life before me. I'm going to enjoy it for what I brought it for. My boy loves the camping and off roading so to me it's worth every penny. When she's just to beaten and dented I'll drop on the pick up body I mentioned earlier.

It would make an excellent place for a meet up - good camp site and facilities.

The good thing about Kirton Shayne is that there is something for everyone, from very mild to extreme. Plenty of daily drivers go, the problem is usually the nut behind the wheel!

Agree, certainly in my case, anytime something happened it was me to blame, picking wrong line, trying something silly etc.

Nice bit of photoshopping there Shayne, and it does look the business if you plan on rolling it back down the hill.
